A Rainy Day in May...
A rainy day in May...We have had such great weather this month and it was bound to happen...the rain came today. The kids stayed home and mom and I got to go do some shopping this morning. I picked up a new umbrella for Kendall...target always has plenty of things for me to buy that I never planned on buying..
The day also left time for the girls to play and practice their happy birthday song and dance for Auntie Kristin. Jordyn got the tinker toys out and as I was bellowing at them for the millionth time to get their toys picked up, I noticed this message..
These are the moments that humble me and remind me to slow down and look at what is really around me and not just the mess or the piles of laundry...I think this is the hardest thing as a mom..trying to hear the advice of your own mom and taking time to play and realize how fast the days will go by...before I know it I will have no toys to pick up and I will be sad..

Baby Shower Time!!

This last weekend we had a baby shower for my lifelong friend, Kristin. She is a best friend, sister, and auntie to our family. We are so excited for her to welcome her first little baby the end of July. I wanted everything to be just perfect and we started the prep for this party back in April while I was on spring break. Pinterest became my new hobby and that was a dangerous path. It led me to many new blogs and back to etsy. Since then I have purchased things for the baby shower, a collar for my dog, a new purse, headbands, and a camera bag! Fun, but not good for the credit card! The other awesome thing about etsy is that I see quite a few things that give me ideas and then I am able to create it myself. Here are some highlights from the shower...
The sunshine was painted by Kendall and was actually the cardboard that came inside our new drinking glasses from IKEA :)
These were little mirrors on the other side...check out this awesome shop by bebe SNIKLEFRITZ. * This is also the site where I bought some super cute headbands!
These are just IKEA frames with scrapbook paper in them. I cut out the letters and they were perfect for the food table!
This was hanging from a bunch of branches that I had on the table in a vase filled with white flower and shredded paper. Each guest wrote a note to Kristin and the baby.
Another IKEA frame! I bought some cute Mother Goose scrapbook paper and framed them after adding some antique wax to the frame.
This is simply fruit jellies from Trader Joe's on a cake pop stick. I used white flower and shredded paper to hold it in place.
One of my students started saving baby food jars for me and I dunked them in the paint. Make sure you give yourself enough time for these little guys to dry!
Might be hard to see, but those are little brown onesies. Just google "template for onesies" and then use a glue pen to add your decoration. I hung these with twine and little clothes pins from Joann Fabric.
I knew that this was the perfect gift, we were tennis partners through high school and college. I love Colette's designs and she was great to work with.

Three of the best friends I could ask for...I can't even begin to explain how important these girls are to me.
